Hal ini; 1. sering dikatakan sebagai perumpamaan yang oleh Yesus dimaksudkan seperti yang kemudian dicantumkan diayat 20-23 (Kata-Nya lagi: "Apa yang keluar dari seseorang, itulah yang menajiskannya,sebab dari dalam, dari hati orang, timbul segala pikiran jahat, percabulan, pencurian, pembunuhan,perzinahan, keserakahan, kejahatan, kelicikan, hawa nafsu, iri hati, hujat, kesombongan, kebebalan.Semua hal-hal jahat ini timbul dari dalam dan menajiskan orang."). Padahal ayat 19 akhir jelas merupakan sebuah kalimat keterangan, karena menggunakan kata-kata 'Dengan demikian'. 2. bertentangan dengan Imamat 11 yang berisi aturan makanan halal dan haram. Imamat adalah salah satu kitab taurat yang ditulis Musa. Entah kenapa Yesus menentang ucapannya sendiri dalam (Matius 5:17 : "Janganlah kamu menyangka, bahwa Aku datang untuk meniadakan hukum Taurat atau kitab para nabi. Aku datang bukan untuk meniadakannya, melainkan untuk menggenapinya.") dengan mengucapkan kata-kata dalam markus 7 : 19 ini. Berikut adalah ayat dalam berbagai versi alkitab.
